SAGL offers different Proficiency Testing Schemes on National level as well as international level.

Participation in maize meal quality proficiency testing ensures accurate and reliable results, strengthens food safety and compliance, and builds confidence in product quality through continuous performance benchmarking and improvement.

Laboratories, food producers, millers, and regulatory bodies involved in maize meal production and testing will all benefit from participation in this scheme.

Maize Meal Quality Proficiency Testing scheme are scheduled quarterly (February, May, August and November). It is recommended but not necessary to participate in all 4 rounds per year.

1kg Super / Special Maize Meal are analysed for the following:

  • Speck count,
  • Particle size,
  • Moisture,
  • Fat,
  • Fibre,
  • Protein,
  • Ash and
  • Whiteness Index
